Package binaries for R versions older than 3.2.0 are only available from the CRAN archive so users of such versions should adjust the CRAN mirror setting ( ) accordingly. Note: Although we take precautions when assembling binaries, please use the normal precautions with downloaded executables.

Releases for old Mac OS X systems (through Mac OS X 10.5) and PowerPC Macs can be found in the old directory. Get it for PowerPC or Intel.This directory contains binaries for a base distribution and packages to run on macOS. Note that support ended for all releases listed below and hence they won't receive any further updates.
You can find recommendations for the respective operating system version below. We provide older releases for users who wish to deploy our software on legacy releases of Mac OS X. Older versions of Mac OS X and VLC media player The last version is 3.0.4 and can be found here. Support for NPAPI plugins was removed from all modern web browsers, so VLC's plugin is no longer maintained.

You can also choose to install a Universal Binary. If you need help in finding the correct package matching your Mac's processor architecture, please see this official support document by Apple. Note that the first generation of Intel-based Macs equipped with Core Solo or Core Duo processors is no longer supported. Previous devices are supported by older releases. It runs on any Mac with a 64-bit Intel processor or an Apple Silicon chip. VLC media player requires Mac OS X 10.7.5 or later.
